Our Afghanistan Schools Program
For more than two decades, indigo foundation has partnered with the Jirghai and Behsud School Council in Afghanistan to improve access to education for children and young people. As of today, approximately 7,985 students are enrolled, including around 2,500 girls in primary education, with local communities having already employed 40 teachers for the next six months of the school year.
Together, we have supported schools across Afghanistan through:
- teacher wages
- winter education programs
- learning resources and class furniture
- school infrastructure, including clean drinking water
- access to both female and male toilets
- community-led school development
At a time when access to education for girls in Afghanistan is increasingly restricted, this partnership helps communities continue creating opportunities for all children to learn, participate and thrive.
