At indigo, we believe communities are best placed to identify their needs, advocate for their rights, and lead the change they want to see. Our role is to back local leaders through long-term, respectful partnerships that strengthen grassroots organisations and amplify their impact.

Across the Asia Pacific region, courageous local organisations are leading the way in addressing violence, inequality and discrimination. With little recognition and limited funding, they’re doing life-changing work – and now they need your support.

This year, we’ve launched two powerful new partnerships with grassroots organisations already making a remarkable impact:

🌈 Arcoiris in Timor-Leste is the only LGBTIQ organisation providing safe spaces, emergency shelter, and skills training to young people facing violence and exclusion. They’re leading education and advocacy efforts to create long-term social change.

🛡 Magna Carta PNG runs the only 24/7 safe house for survivors of family and sexual violence in Port Moresby. Since 2014, they’ve supported over 2,100 survivors with safety, counselling and legal help – often working entirely through volunteers.

Your support today will help us reach $55,000 by 30 June — empowering these organisations to grow and sustain their transformative work.

People like Betty, who survived a brutal attack after being falsely accused of sorcery, are now rebuilding their lives thanks to the care and protection of Magna Carta PNG.

Betty’s story is one of strength and survival. In Papua New Guinea, accusations of sorcery are sometimes used to justify violence – and women are disproportionately targeted. Betty was one of many women who have experienced gender-based violence linked to these harmful beliefs.

Forced to flee her home and community, she found safety and support at the St Joan of Arc Safe House, run by our local partner, Magna Carta PNG. There, she received shelter, legal assistance, and the chance to begin again.

No woman should have to endure what Betty did. But too many do.

Betty’s story is not isolated – across the country, too many women are at risk. But with your support, we can help create a future where every woman is safe, respected and empowered to thrive.

That’s why Magna Carta PNG exists — and why indigo foundation is proud to partner with them.

After three months at the St Joan of Arc Safe House, I was able to go and live with my uncle and his family. Magna Carta arranged my travel and gave me a starter kit of PGK 350. I’ve settled in well and now work as a cook. I’ve left behind the accusations, wounds and grief – I’ve found a new home and a new life. – Betty, survivor of violence, PNG

Building Lasting Change Together
At indigo foundation, we know that development in marginalised communities requires long-term commitment. That’s why we’ve built enduring partnerships with organisations like PEAB in India and Club Rafiki in Rwanda. These community partners have achieved significant impact over many years.

Both PEAB and Club Rafiki have shown the strength and resilience of locally led development – a vision we are excited to see more of in Timor-Leste and Papua New Guinea.

Our established and deep-rooted partnerships have demonstrated that sustained support, trust, and collaboration lead to powerful change – in the communities they serve, through the advocacy they lead and for the organisations they are building. We are committed to seeing that same success with Arcoiris and Magna Carta PNG, continuing to accompany them as they grow their impact and develop as community-based organisations.

These locally led organisations are embedded in their communities, trusted by those they serve, and best placed to lead change. But they can’t do it alone.

That’s why we’re aiming to raise $55,000 by 30 June – to ensure these new partnerships can grow and continue their critical work.

Your donation can help:

  • Provide shelter and food for survivors of violence in PNG
  • Deliver skills training to LGBTIQ youth in Timor-Leste
  • Support legal cases and human rights advocacy at the grassroots

Will you stand with grassroots leaders and show them they are not alone?

👉 Donate Now to help us reach our goal and invest in communities creating a better future from the ground up.

With gratitude,
