This holiday season, we’re inspired by the remarkable potential of today’s youth – dynamic, resourceful young people who are making a difference in their communities. With your support, we hope to raise $20,000 to further empower young women and men, enabling their aspirations and backing their potential as catalysts for change.

Our community partnerships are built on the belief that people are motivated to develop their communities and have the knowledge needed to shape sustainable solutions to the challenges they face. And we have seen that young people, when encouraged and supported, can make an enormous contribution as changemakers. By investing in their leadership, we’re helping youth develop the confidence, skills, and opportunities they need to reach their fullest potential.

indigo foundation: almost 25 years of empowering local leaders
For close to two and a half decades, indigo foundation has been a committed partner to grassroots communities, standing with them as they drive their own development and champion basic human rights. Our partnership approach is grounded in trust, respect and flexibility. We recognise the resilience and expertise of local communities and understand that community development is never a straight path. We exist to support their development ambitions and priorities – for inclusive education, improved health and well-being, equity for women and girls, development of local leaders and investment in community infrastructure. Together, we’ve built sustainable initiatives that uplift individuals and transform communities, and this holiday season, we are excited to continue this journey with you.

With your generous support, here’s how our partnerships are making a difference:

Club Rafiki: investing in the potential of youth
In Rwanda, Club Rafiki is dedicated to improving the lives of young people and shaping the next generation of leaders. Club Rafiki is a vibrant hub for youth to engage with their peers. Together they access dance and recreational activities, health education, vocational training and other activities tailored to their needs. These programs build confidence and skills that increase employment prospects and foster leadership. Young people can access career guidance, support with job interviews and CVs, as well as training in job creation. In the past year 790 young people attended training on entrepreneurship. With indigo’s support, participation of girls and young women has increased dramatically, with targeted sexual and reproductive health education and preparation for employment activities. The Club’s focus on leadership and gender equity are an integral part of their overall success in empowering youth for the future.

“My parents don’t talk to me about reproductive health, Club Rafiki is the only place I feel connected and where I can learn about these things. It concerns my future and it’s my right to know about my body.” Kelia – Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights Program Attendee.

Your support will help Club Rafiki continue to nurture confident, capable leaders who can shape their own futures.

A gift of $100 can provide sexual and reproductive health education to a young girl, opening up life opportunities she would otherwise be denied.

Afghanistan Schools Program: supporting education access and quality
Since 2003, indigo has partnered with remote Afghan communities to improve access to education. Despite significant challenges, the Afghanistan Schools Program has touched the lives of over 12,000 students from more than 50 primary and secondary schools. This program exemplifies the importance families and community leaders place on education. Your past support has helped these communities build schools, improve school facilities, access text books, support teacher education and improve access to education for girls. For two decades access to tertiary education has become a reality for a high proportion of students, rather than a dream. With their qualifications in hand, many students have returned to their communities as teachers and community leaders. At a time when the right to education is seriously under threat, and is denied for girls beyond primary school, your contribution will help our partner communities sustain and expand education access for their children.

A gift of $200 can support informal education sessions for girls affected by current restrictions.

Program for Education and Awareness Building (PEAB): breaking down barriers to education
In Tamil Nadu, India, PEAB supports marginalised children from Dalit communities succeed in school and dream big. In 2024, around 180 students accessed outside-school education sessions and Year 10 coaching. Thanks to committed tutors and active community involvement, PEAB’s village education centres dramatically improve school retention and exam success rates. Many of these children now aspire to careers that once seemed impossible, including past students returning as tutors or teachers to help the next generation of children. Together, we can help them continue to reach new heights and break education and employment barriers for generations to come.

A gift of $300 will support after school education tuition for a group of students, opening up life opportunities.

The future belongs to those who are equipped to lead. By supporting our holiday appeal, you’re investing in a world where youth can rise to their potential, bringing their unique talents and perspectives to the world.

Please consider a donation to help us reach our $20,000 goal. Together, we can provide invaluable resources to empower these young leaders to shape their futures and inspire those around them.

Thank you for believing in the strength of youth.
